Acacia Gardens is proud to announce that The Making Sense Garden, created for the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival 2024, has won the prestigious People’s Choice Award for Best Get Started Garden. This sensory masterpiece, designed by Flora Scouarnec and Victoria Pease-Cox and sponsored by Scouarnec & Pease-Cox Garden Design, captivated the public with its thoughtful and inclusive design. In addition to winning the People’s Choice Award, the garden also earned a silver medal from the official judges, who praised the construction quality as excellent, highlighting the dedication of the Acacia Gardens team.

The garden features two richly planted levels and multi-stemmed trees with tactile bark anchoring two corners. The herbaceous beds follow a loose planting scheme, allowing plants to interweave and self-seed naturally over time.
An inviting curved path, with steps leading down to a sunken seating area surrounded by lush greenery, offers a perfect spot to admire the beautiful plantings. The aged sculptural elements and rusted hanging chains interspersed throughout add intrigue for visitors to discover.
A wall-mounted water feature provides the soothing sound of splashing water, enhancing the garden’s tranquil atmosphere. The harmonious colour palette of cool tones with vibrant accents further enhances the sensory experience.
The creation of The Making Sense Garden involved meticulous digging to achieve the sunken garden effect, with a curved path and steps seamlessly connecting to the ground level.
