The sustainable garden design and build project in Palmers Green, North London, showcases Acacia Gardens garden design and build credentials. We transformed this Palmers Green property’s front and rear gardens in North London, N14, into stylish and sustainable outdoor spaces. Designed by Malvina Bushi and Kathryn Cox from our expert garden design team and constructed by our skilled landscapers, this project showcases the perfect blend of aesthetics and eco-conscious principles. Following an extension to this charming Victorian terrace, it was time to bring the outdoor areas in line with the beauty of the interior, creating a harmonious and inviting environment.

Palmers Green Garden Key Features

Patio Space

An extended patio space with a new shelter creates an additional outdoor room in the rear garden. Paved with reclaimed London yellow stock bricks, a herringbone pattern was applied to this area, which zones the space like a living room. It’s a lovely place to catch the sunset while exploring the new planting design.

Sustainable Landscaping

Paths and borders with long-lasting Corten edging and natural stone pebbles create a striking design aesthetic while being sustainable. The pebble paths, being permeable, contribute to a healthier ecosystem in the soil below. The pebble dressing also protects delicate new plants from heavy downpours and aids moisture retention in summer.

Landscaping Curves

Curves feature throughout the garden to provide contrast in a rectangular space. Curved pebble paths and borders offer an entrance into the garden from the rear patio. Revised with reclaimed paving to create a view back to the house, a new curved central lawn and path leads to the summer house space.

Planting Design

A planting design of new trees, soft ornamental grasses, strong shrubs, and vertical perennials features throughout, with design-led architectural specimens like Phormium tenax ‘All Black’ highlighting the garden. New planting was combined with existing trees and shrubs, which were reshaped to give the garden a new look while still feeling mature.

Combining strong landscape architecture, inspired planting design, and expert landscaping has created outdoor spaces that have exceeded our client’s expectations. Harmonising with this Victorian terrace while incorporating sustainable and contemporary design features was paramount. The result is a fresh new look that still has a sense of place.
