Acacia Gardens has completed the landscape construction for Sarah Kay’s redesign of a back garden in Highbury, London, N5. This project involved installing a contemporary patio, custom-built raised beds, a floating bench and a thoughtfully designed shed, all seamlessly integrated to enhance aesthetics and functionality. A serene, inviting space perfectly encapsulates the homeowners’ vision for a private urban oasis.

Patio Installation

A contemporary patio was installed to create an inviting space for alfresco dining. The use of London Stone Steel Grey Porcelain and matching Steel Grey Grout provided a sleek and modern aesthetic. Drainage was incorporated to tackle surface water.

Raised Bed Construction

Raised beds were added to enhance the garden design and provide low-maintenance planting areas around the patio. They are built with London Imperial Stock Bricks and finished with Steel Grey Porcelain Bullnose Edge Coping to complement the modern patio.

Floating Bench Addition

A floating wooden bench was integrated into the raised beds to offer additional seating for the outdoor dining area. European Oak adds a natural touch to the contemporary setting and offsets the grey patio colour.

Fence Installation

We replaced the old fencing with a new horizontal batten fence with slight gaps between the battens to allow natural light to filter through. The fence was painted in Cuprinol Urban Slate on the garden side, enhancing its contemporary look.

Garden Shed Installation

To fulfil the need for garden storage, we installed a Pent Shed and painted it to match the garden’s overall aesthetic. This addition provides practical storage space and enhances the garden’s cohesiveness.

Soft Landscaping

All raised beds were filled with nutrient-rich subsoil and thoughtfully planted. We meticulously prepared the tree pits by adding topsoil and a drainage layer before planting the Pleached and Multi-Stem Betula trees.

After undertaking a significant site clearance, including removing existing decking, lawn, fencing, and an old shed, our goal was to bring Sarah’s vision to life. We transformed the space into a tranquil, modern garden retreat in North London. From the sleek porcelain patio to the integrated raised beds and floating bench, every element was carefully crafted to ensure the garden looked beautiful and provided a functional, serene space for the homeowners to enjoy year-round.
