It was a pleasure to undertake the garden build and construction work for the English Country Style Garden in Queens Park, London NW8. Odie Green Garden Design refreshed the lacklustre garden by adding a Millboard deck, raised beds and reshaping the existing patio. Acacia Gardens was delighted to help with the garden build, including hard and soft landscaping. The result was a glorious garden in the heart of North West London.

Millboard Decking

After removing the existing decking, Acacia Gardens installed a Burnt Cedar Millboard Deck. The composite material is easy to maintain, so it’s a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for garden decking. Running the deck level with the interior floor provides ease of movement from inside to outside.

Connecting Garden Surfaces

The decking steps connect with the paved patio area, which takes you to the rear of the garden, where you’ll find a bench to sit down and admire the house. Connecting the garden surfaces improves the ease of movement around the garden. By putting materials together the connecting surfaces appear seamless with a tidy finish.

Planting and Raised Bed

With a mix of trees, shrubs and flowers in the deep perimeter borders, the garden has a typical English country garden feel. We built an L-shaped raised bed with pressure-treated sleepers that were sanded and painted. An established Acer tree was kept, and other plants provided decorative interest.

Hazel Fencing

Hazel fencing is the perfect choice for country-style gardens. The natural hazel colour adds warmth and coordinates against the planting whilst providing a layer of privacy from the neighbours. The rustic woven effect of the traditional weaving technique is a charming alternative to closed fence panels.

It’s always a joy to create a countryside garden in London. Tranquil garden designs with pretty planting provide the ultimate place for homeowners to relax and unwind. By retaining some of the original garden elements and reusing materials, we felt good in the knowledge that environmentally minded practices were included.
