Garden Build Project
Acacia Gardens enjoyed taking on the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival 2023 Garden Build Project. The Silver Medal in the Get Started category was awarded to the Inghams Working with Nature Garden, designed by Butler & Parker. Inghams are known for their dedication to outdoor holidays which inspired the garden design. It captures the essence of summer explorations in Europe’s alpine valleys. Several other companies contributed to the projects success: Bernhard’s Nurseries, New Wood Trees, All Green, Jay Davey Bespoke Willow, Landscape Plus and Straight Curve.
The Inghams Working With Nature Garden was skilfully designed by Butler & Parker and expertly built by Acacia Gardens. It draws inspiration from the picturesque European alpine valleys, providing a tranquil and immersive experience.
The garden features compacted semi-permeable gravel paths leading to a beautiful bench crafted from reclaimed oak sleepers and Purbeck limestone boulders.
Sustainability is at the core of the garden’s design, with rainwater efficiently collected in an open bio-swale. It cleverly minimises the need for additional watering and reduces the risk of flooding.
Adding to the garden’s natural ambience, a willow fence is thoughtfully shaped to mimic the movement of water and mountain views. It also acts as a backdrop and enclosure for the calm landscape.
The choice of plants was carefully curated to embody a natural aesthetic and adaptability to future climate changes. It’s largely inspired by wooded areas and serene valley clearings. The plant palette showcases a delightful assortment of flowering perennials and grasses, harmoniously blending diverse textures and vibrant colours.
Butler & Parker’s garden design was outstanding, perfectly capturing Inghams focus on outdoor holidays. The tranquil garden invites visitors to take a break on the bench and immerse themselves in nature. We received the highest score for the construction element of this garden. The accolade is a testament to the Acacia Gardens team and showcases our exceptional hard landscaping capabilities.
