Family-Friendly Garden in E9
The garden landscaping and build project in Hackney E9 demonstrates how a detailed garden design can be realised through expert construction. The design was created by Daniel Shea Garden Design, with Acacia Gardens appointed to carry out the full build. The clients wanted a contemporary, family-friendly garden that seamlessly blended elegant entertaining areas with practical zones for play and relaxation. Our role was to bring the plans to life, overseeing all aspects of excavation, foundations, hard landscaping, bespoke features, drainage, and planting. The result is a high-quality outdoor space that improves the home and provides lasting enjoyment for the entire family.

Garden Decking and Terraces
We built terraces with Millboard Antique Oak decking and Ancona clay pavers, selected for durability and a modern look. These low-maintenance surfaces create a stylish base for dining and lounging, while raised levels and bullnose details add a premium finish that links house and garden.
Outdoor Kitchen and Fireplace
The garden build included a bespoke outdoor kitchen and an Urban Fires gas fireplace. These specialised features extend the use of the garden throughout the seasons, providing the family with a space that is just as suitable for cosy autumn evenings as it is for summer gatherings.
Water Feature and Garden Walls
A feature wall was constructed to incorporate a striking water feature, complete with foundations, a reservoir, and decorative aggregate detailing. This creates a calming focal point, enhances the garden’s atmosphere, and displays the level of expertise involved in creating bespoke garden features.
Planting Borders and Lawn
Over 90m² of planting borders were prepared with enriched soil ready for new planting. A fresh lawn was laid, and pleached trees introduced for privacy and structure. This soft landscaping balances the hard materials and ensures seasonal colour and greenery.
Front Garden Landscaping
The front garden was completely reworked to improve both appearance and functionality. We installed new Yorkstone steps with a bullnose edge, creating a strong and elegant approach to the house. The landing was finished with traditional tiles for character, while a dedicated bin storage area was built to keep the frontage neat and practical. Pleached trees were planted to provide structure and privacy, with rosemary quartz gravel laid for a clean, contemporary surface. Discreet lighting highlights the steps and planting, enhancing kerb appeal and making the entrance safer and more welcoming after dark. The combination of heritage detailing and modern materials ensures the front garden complements the property while standing up to everyday use.
