Acacia Gardens is pleased to present a front garden build, in Hornsey, North London, N8. Transforming the outside of your home through landscaping can add thousands of pounds to the house’s value. It also gives you joy as you return home after a long day at the office. Acacia Gardens undertook the construction work, including building a garden wall, installing a curved clay paved path, sandstone landing and steps and fencing. Soft planting and hedging complete the front garden redesign, adding instant attractiveness to the dwelling.

Garden Wall

Acacia Gardens built the garden wall in Soft Red Brick to match the existing building. Solid Staffordshire Blue Engineering Brick was used as a contrast at the base, top of the walls and for the piers. The wall construction included the foundation, brick piers and pier caps. We also rebuilt the existing low retaining wall on the left-hand side of the garden.

Steps and Landing

House access is now easy thanks to the sandstone landing with steps leading to the front door. Bullnose edging ensures a smooth finish to the Yorkshire steps while the natural colour brightens the area. We added drainage so that heavy rainfall and snow would not cause problems in the future.

Clay Pavers

Grey tone clay pavers are laid in a running bond pattern on a porous base and are edged with Kinley metal edging. These form a path leading to the steps and continue towards the bin storage. The grey shade of the clay pavers contrasts against the natural sandstone steps to create decorative interest.

Soft Landscaping

Part of the remit included soft landscaping. We dug over the soil to remove stones, unwanted plants, and roots. Farmyard manure and fertilizer were added to improve the ground. Shrubs, herbaceous perennials and a hedge were planted. A fine bark mulch layer was added to the plant beds to suppress weeds and tidy the appearance.

Herman Pobrati Managing Director Garden Designer

Emma Appleby’s front garden design transformed the kerb appeal of this Hornsey house. After completing the hard landscape construction and the magical finishing touches of the softscaping, the house has the wow factor. The entrance is practical and inviting with a newly built garden wall, a garden path, and steps leading to the front door. It’s the perfect front garden design that’s in keeping with the period of the property.
