A Natural Modern Garden In Hertfordshire
Bespoke Fire Bowl Corner
Acacia Gardens custom-designed and built this fire bowl space in an unused corner. A semicircular western red cedar bench with angled backing surrounds the circular fire bowl, creating an inviting focal point. Recessed lighting adds ambience, while a matching cedar-clad raised planter guides you into the area.
Planting Design
New borders and planting enhance the garden, blending seamlessly with its mature surroundings. Betula albosinensis ‘Fascination’ trees were added to harmonise with the landscape beyond the boundary. Ferns, evergreen shrubs, ornamental grasses, and perennials were carefully selected to complement the existing planting at Maple Lodge.
Landscaping Materials
The design features high-quality, natural materials for durability and style. Western red cedar cladding was used for the raised planter. At the same time, beige-sawn sandstone paving extends from the undercover patio to a curved plank path, creating a cohesive, organic feel throughout the garden.
Picture Window Garden Views
The stunning rear extension offers picture-perfect views of the garden through full-height glazing in the dining room and covered patio. Thoughtful lighting, planting, and material choices ensure the garden delivers year-round beauty with a contemporary, polished aesthetic.
Our garden design and build teams collaborated to create a space that feels genuinely grounded in its environment. Every aspect, from the flow of the layout to the choice of materials and planting, was carefully considered to echo the character of the home and the surrounding landscape. The result is a welcoming and well-rooted garden, sitting comfortably within its setting. We’re excited to see how it grows and settles over time, becoming an extension of the home and a place to enjoy for years.
