A Multi-Use Rear Garden In North London
This garden design and build project in Southgate, North London N14, has created a contemporary multi-use outdoor space. Features include a sunlit terrace with raised planting beds, a jasmine-covered pergola, a dining area with a Buddha water feature, an all-weather pergola, a gym and a utility area. Relaxed planting with perennials, shrubs and jasmine climbers enhances this safe and serene retreat. The south-facing garden combines functionality and beauty. This garden was designed and built by Acacia Gardens.
Contemporary Sun Terrace
Flowing seamlessly from the interior, this newly designed rear paved terrace is a sun-filled retreat. Framed by raised planting beds brimming with sun-loving perennials, shrubs, and herbs, it creates a welcoming gateway to the lawn beyond. A contemporary pergola adorned with jasmine climbers offers a shaded corner to unwind and enjoy the view.
Rear Garden Living Space
This rear garden living space features an alfresco dining area complemented by a Buddha, water feature and bamboo-filled planters, creating a serene gathering environment. The closing pergola shelters outdoor sofas, providing a versatile breakout space for all seasons. This area also includes a gym, home studio, and utility section, maximising the functionality of a previously unused shady corner.
Garden Planting Design
The garden showcases a relaxed, naturalistic planting design, blending English cottage-style perennials and shrubs with ornamental features like a stone Buddha. Along the left boundary, jasmine climbers create a stunning green wall, adding texture and life to the space while enhancing its tranquil aesthetic.
Child and Pet-Friendly Garden Design
A spacious lawn was prioritised for children and pets to enjoy, while the planting scheme was carefully chosen for its safety, using non-toxic, soft-edged plants. A timber sliding gate was also installed, providing flexible control over access to the garden when needed.

We focused on making the garden versatile by incorporating multi-use outdoor living spaces that cater to relaxation, entertainment and family activities. With landscaping features designed to be child- and pet-friendly, the garden seamlessly balances style with practicality, ensuring it can be enjoyed from morning to night.
