Social Space In North London
Acacia Gardens recently undertook a contemporary garden build project in Whetstone, London N20. This beautifully designed garden by Paul Newman at Designscape is more than just an extension of a home; it serves as an oasis of tranquillity, a social space, and a place to connect with nature. This rear garden transformation in Whetstone, North London, seamlessly blends structured landscaping, elegant hardscaping, and lush planting, resulting in a contemporary outdoor retreat. The project boasts a striking pavilion, inviting social patio spaces, meandering pathways, a fire pit area with a feature tree, carefully layered planting, and a thoughtfully designed ambient lighting scheme. The landscaping works, incorporating both hard and soft elements, were expertly executed by Acacia Gardens.
Pavilion And Social Patios
A striking pavilion elevated on a concrete base, accessed via steps, serves as a focal point and a sheltered retreat for relaxation or entertaining. Two patio areas in
Jura Beige Porcelain from London Stone enhance the garden’s social aspect. The central patio provides ample space for dining and gatherings, while the lower patio offers a more private escape. Clad in Hydra Argen Luxury Design Clad, the existing brickwork adds a sophisticated touch to the overall aesthetic.
Meandering Pathways
Carefully designed pathways made from cobbles, setts and pavers allow smooth movement throughout the garden and guide visitors through the different zones. Integrated cutouts in the paths are planted with Corsican mint or thyme, which releases a delicate fragrance when walked upon. These subtle details create a sensory experience that enhances the journey through the space.
Feature Tree And Fire Pit
A dedicated paved area features a circular cut-out for a specimen tree, offering year-round interest and seasonal shade. This space also acts as a gathering point, centred around a fire pit to foster warmth and conversation. Whether enjoyed during cool evenings or utilised as a visual centrepiece, this garden section creates a cosy and inviting atmosphere.
